During our Portraiture Unit, students spend time examining the work of artist Chuck Close, sketching facial anatomy, and learning how to create a grid system over an image using coordinates. This interdisciplinary work incorporates various skills used in most subject areas. Careful discussion and planning with my grade team which consists of math, social studies, science, health, and english teachers, allows me to create such valuable units of study connected to all disciplines.
